The Marchesini Group and The Best of Made-in-Italy Packaging Technologies on Show at Pharmintech 2016

The countdown has begun for the fifth edition of Pharmintech, the Italian venue focusing on the entire pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and personal care supply chains.

This content was written and submitted by the supplier. It has only been modified to comply with this publication’s space and style.

Pharmintech will take place in Bologna from April 13th to 15th 2016, as a part of Pharma Week, alongside Cosmofarma: thus the entire supply chain for the world of pharmaceuticals will meet for several appointments and to take a close look at how the serialization regulations have evolved and to talk to the experts of Sea Vision, who will host a Marchesini Track & Trace line at their stand.

At Pharmintech (Hall 19 - Stand D59/E59), the Group will exhibit two lines; one for packaging blisters and the other for syringes, which will be backed by five stand-alone machines.

Blister

Integra 220 is the progenitor of the integrated robotic lines made by the Marchesini Group. It is the model from which the subsequent versions 320 and 520 V have been created. The winning idea from which Marchesini started to create this line, and which was also taken into account for later versions, is that of integrating the two thermoforming and carton packaging operations into just one unit. The resulting machine has a compact structure (measuring a mere 9 meters) and fully accessible work stations.

Each of these stations (forming, sealing, perforation, coding and shearing) is managed completely by servo motors, which guarantee high production speeds (150 pieces per minute) and low noise levels. The thermoforming section is connected to the cartoning station by a Robocombi. This robot has suction units that pick-up each blister and place it directly into the buckets of the cartoner without any other in-between steps.

At Pharmintech, Integra 220 will be completed with the FA 04 produced by Multipack. The balcony design of this overwrapper enables operators to monitor the entire production flow perfectly and efficiently. Maintenance is minimal and the machine is extremely user-friendly.

Syringes

FBZ 320 is a horizontal continuous-motion cartoner with a Robomaster infeed system made entirely by the Marchesini Group to allow the machine to work at very high speeds. The Robomaster robot feeds the syringes to the thermoformer and can perform up to 80 very delicate pick-up cycles per minute. Its pitch is over 500 mm and the quality of the finish is excellent. Size change-overs are performed without having to use any special tools. The high speed shearing stations boost the production rate and performance and also cut down on waste. All of these superb features make the FBZ 320 an efficient, safe and user-friendly machine.

At Pharmintech, the FBZ 320 will be backed by the continuous-motion cartoning machine BA 400 Argento. This cartoner processes up to 300 cartons a minute and is equipped with a Robocombi infeed robot with 3-axes and pick-up head with suckers. It has been patented by Marchesini to drastically shorten size change-over operations. It picks up the syringes received from the thermoformer and stacks them correctly and inserts them into the bucket chain of the cartoner.

Vials and bottles

The RSF 03 belongs to the range of vial filling machines developed by Corima, the brand of Marchesini dealing with sterile filling and packaging solutions. This machine has a balcony design to guarantee ease-of-access, efficient hygiene and correct use of the laminar flow. The machine is built to open, fill and seal the vial in utmost sterile conditions in each phase of the production process: from opening the vial itself, with control and automatic triggering of the flame, to filling, which is done by a rotary syringe unit with 2 to 8 rotary pumps, through to final sealing.

Conceived from a joint project with Neri, a partner of the Marchesini group specialising in the production of labelling machines, the RE 202 is an automatic rotary machine designed to put one or two labels at very high speeds on round, oval or shaped vials made of glass, plastic or other materials. The compact footprint and comfortable and easy-to-access operator work station, where operators can carry out every type of intervention and monitor the production flow, make the RE 202 an ergonomic and user-friendly machine, capable of reaching production speeds of up to 200 vials a minute.

Serialization

The BL A420 unit labels and traces cartons. It is ergonomic and offers simple size change-over operations. The possibility to install a variety of tracing devices onboard the machine, such as inkjet and laser printers, plus related cameras, to print and verify the serialized codes on the screen exploiting related human-readable data, on the side flaps of the carton and on the upper panel, make the BL A420 a complete serialization machine. It can be installed as a stand-alone unit or within a line and is capable of meeting any production requirement related to pharmaceutical Track and Trace.

Tubes

The Millennium 120-2 on show is a new version of the standard single channel linear version Mill 120. The Millennium 120-2, purchased in 2013 by a well-known American supplier of veterinary products, adds innovative solutions to close PE tubes containing ATEX products. The machine is loaded with plastic tubes with conical caps that are filled with low doses of a liquid product (between 0.6 and 7ml), and runs at a speed of 100 ppm.
