Bemis Company, Inc. today announced that it has acquired the rigid plastic packaging operations of Emplal Participações S.A. ("Emplal"). Emplal, a privately-owned Brazilian manufacturer of plastic packaging for food and consumer applications, recorded annual net sales of R$225 million in 2014, or approximately US$58 million at today's exchange rate. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. This transaction will not impact earnings per share guidance for 2015.

"This acquisition supports our growth strategy to expand in markets that fit our strengths and capabilities," said William F. Austen, President and Chief Executive Officer of Bemis Company, Inc. "We look forward to integrating these two facilities, which complement our manufacturing capabilities in the region, into our business during 2016. We expect this acquisition to be modestly accretive to earnings per share in 2016."
