AVT – a world leader in print automatic inspection, process control, quality assurance and color control for the packaging, label and metal decoration print markets – will showcase new solutions derived from its groundbreaking inspection systems for packaging applications at ProPak Asia, June 17-20 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The show marks the first time that AVT will present a complementary collection of unique, end-to-end workflow solutions, an arrangement that allows customers to choose among a broad spectrum of production automation solutions to find those that best suit their needs. In the process, AVT customers can boost both quality and efficiency while cutting production time and waste by as much as 50%.
For AVT, the highlight of show will be its Turbo series – which includes Apollo Turbo, Argus Turbo and Argus E Turbo – enabling customers to enjoy speeds up to three times faster and significantly enhance vision system resolution. The result is highest-possible resolution at previously unattainable production speeds for best-in-class inspection quality with no quantity compromise or lost data. Supported by a dedicated LED illumination technology, the camera provides an unprecedented combination of high-resolution, high-volume quality control.
AVT also will display its new end-to-end Workflow Link Packaging, designed to cover the entire packaging production workflow, including slitter rewinders, laminators and doctoring machines and to provide a cost efficient automated solution to quality assurance needs of all printers and converters. Workflow Link uses the information from inspection on press to control and stop various finishing machines automatically at a defect location. The solution combines the highest process control on press with efficient quality control and waste removal at required production stages.
Also showcased at ProPak will be AVT’s new Apollo Multi-Stop, an inspection and waste control solution offering unprecedented rewinder workflow integration at both high resolution and high speeds. Apollo Multi-Stop provides 100%, real-time defect detection, displaying all detected defects on a dual screen that allows for ongoing reel editing and positioning of any defect, at any time. The system controls the rewinder to stop only on the defects needed to be removed, which makes it the most efficient tool available. A special mode allows for running forward at full speed and running backwards to remove defects.
Additional Details of Turbo Series for Packaging Applications
Another point of distinction for the Turbo series comes with its PDF job verification capabilities. AVT’s signature JobRef, which enables verification at the setup stage by automatically comparing the current job to the original, customer-approved digital PDF file, has been modified to specifically address the needs of the packaging sector. This up-front comparison results not only in improved accuracy – it reduces the chance of reprints due to mistake to almost zero.
AVT’s Turbo series of inspection solutions are attractive options for packaging printers in a wide range of segments – such as flexible packaging, folding cartons, and paper and foil conversion – across a broad range of worldwide markets, including food packaging, beverages, cosmetics & personal care, pharmaceuticals, specialty items, paper and plastic bags, and commercial & semi-commercial applications. The solutions can be utilized both on-press or during the finishing process on rewinders, slitter rewinders and laminators.
“AVT is proud to launch the complete end to end workflow solution for packaging as well as our new Apollo Multi-Stop solution, as offshoots of our highly successful Turbo Series of packaging inspection solutions,” said Amir Sheinman, VP Marketing of AVT. “Our customers will benefit from these releases, allowing them to realize even greater value from our inspection and workflow portfolio and improve the overall productivity and efficiency of their manufacturing operations.”
