At Achema 2015, Marchesini Group will illustrate to customers the new levels of excellence achieved with its pharmaceutical packaging solutions. The machines showcased at the stand measuring 660 square meters (Hall 3.1 - Booth G3) will comprise a congenial mix backed by the typical units of the Group. There will be the monobloc Synchro 24 for filling and counting solids and a preview of brand new units such as the robotized blister line Integra 520V and the vial filler ML 643. Altogether, there will be three complete lines and five stand-alone machines representing the state of the art in each specific sector of the pharmaceutical packaging industry, from serialization to aseptic packaging; they prove the Group’s ability in acclaiming its leading position thanks to the high level of customisation of its products, all “Made in Italy”.

Liquid and aseptic processing
The representative sterile production line of Marchesini will consist of the Stery Capsy aseptic filler and stoppering machine for injectable pharmaceuticals. The key assets of this solution are: perfect accessibility to all critical zones, pre-arrangement to fit cRABS or isolator containment systems, plus simplified management of spare parts and maintenance. Its balcony design means the area in which the product is exposed can be kept separate from that where the mechanical components are installed. This guarantees a perfectly sterile process, in addition to cutting washing, drying and decontamination times by 50% compared with conventional machines.

Another solution to be previewed at Achema is the new ML 643 linear vial filler/capper-plugger with intermittent motion. Its top mechanical production rate is 100 pieces per minute and it can batch from 100 to 200 ml. It can seal the containers with screw-on caps or plugs and even with crimped caps. The linear structure makes the ML 643 ergonomic, also meaning it is much easier to work on the machine with a clear view of each phase of the packaging cycle, from filling through to the capping/crimping of the container. Thanks to the versatility of ML 643, which can be set-up under a laminar flow in its pharmaceutical applications, this machine is also perfect for the cosmetic and nutritional industries.

The RE 302 labeller will also be on show at the trade fair, set up for small eye drop containers. The top feature of this machine is the possibility to check the code 100% because the containers are transported along motorised rotary plates. A photocell detects the position of the code around the container and can send an input to the machine to turn the plate so that it is positioned exactly in front of the camera. If the code is correct, the input is sent to apply the label with the code positioned as required, whereas if the code is wrong, the label is not applied and the container is rejected.

The sterile sector is completed by a new variant of the syringe filler FSP 05. This machine exploits tub opening and syringe filling/stoppering processes integrated in just one monobloc unit. Thanks to its compact footprint and to the individual management systems, it offers economic and technical advantages compared with conventional solutions. The monobloc can produce 12.000 pcs/h and consists of a robotized area where the tubs are opened and an area where the syringes are filled and stoppered; both areas are protected by an isolator that works with laminar flows and guarantees a totally sterile process.

Solids in blisters
Among the novelties previewed at Achema, one very eye-catching unit is Integra 520V, the big sister of the integrated robotized blister line Integra 320, which was exhibited at the last edition of Interpack. In addition to the innovative items already presented in the previous version – including the new machine pitch control system with cameras, an innovative carton opening and blister insertion system – there is an ingenious pusher unit, a drum-type carton opener to manage very high speeds and a new system for picking up and inserting the instruction leaflet. The result is a line that can package an amazing 500 blisters per minute.

Solids counting
Synchro 24 is one of the latest creations of Marchesini in the counting sector. This monobloc works at very high production rates, exploiting a system called "twin flap", which doubles the 12 channels of each counting unit without increasing the number of parts in contact. Mr. Ugo Tanfani, product manager of the Group, pointed out that: «This system guarantees the high quality of the counting process itself thanks to an advanced synchro-dynamic conveyance system that transfers the counted product into the vial as the vial is infed».
At the beginning of the machine there is a Sirio 3 “Code” feeder, capable of positioning round, square, oval or rectangular vials (up to 180 per minute). As it is fed to the next station, the vial can be coded with a barcode or datamatrix code, after which it is cleaned internally and the code is checked by a camera.

Tubes
The Mill120-2 machine has been created starting from the well-tested linear and standard version with single channel, to which innovative solutions have been added to close tubes containing ATEX products. The machine is loaded with plastic tubes with cone-shaped top to be filled with a very small amount of liquid (between 0,6 and 7 ml), at a speed of 100 ppm.
The efficiency of the Mill120-2 is also guaranteed by a Robovision robot patented by Marchesini Group; the robot is equipped with four movement axes and a vision system that guides the gripper head to pick-up and position each single tube correctly.

Serialization
The BL-A421 is a carton labelling and tracking machine. The ergonomic structure, accurate and quick size change-over and capacity to install all the main types of printing and vision systems with camera of the serialization codes make it an amazingly technological yet incredibly straightforward solution. The “key word” is yet again “versatility”, which for this range of labelling machines is a “MUST” for customers who can thus request a “tailored” machine according to the various national standards in terms of traceability. The BL-A421 presented at Achema is a novelty with added variables to extend the range of sizes processed and will be showcased in line with the horizontal casepacker and palletizer MC820. Together, these two machines are able to label, trace and package 400 cartons a minute.
