Aphena Pharma Solutions Holdings Inc. and the Ileos Group have reached an agreement for Le Papillon-Bioplan, a subsidiary of Ileos, to acquire the health and beauty division of Aphena, effective Nov. 8, 2013.

Aphena Health & Beauty manager Dominick Montano, along with other key personnel, will transfer to Le Papillon-Bioplan, with both companies working to make the transition as smooth as possible.

“We saw this as a good opportunity and a good partner to sell to,” said Aphena Pharma Solutions CEO Kevin Kerchner. “We believe that refocusing on our core business of pharmaceutical contract packaging and manufacturing will position Aphena to become one of the top sourcing firms in the nation in this fast-growing industry.”

Aphena launched the Aphena Health & Beauty brand in 2010 after combining the capabilities of two plants it had formerly purchased, Celeste Contract Packaging and Manufacturing in Easton, Md., in 2008 and TestPak in Whippany, N.J., in 2010. In August 2012, Aphena Health & Beauty sharpened its focus from contract manufacturing and packaging to contract sampling and filling for the health and beauty industry.

Now a major player in the cosmetics sampling arena, Aphena Health & Beauty specializes in turnkey development and manufacturing of samples for the cosmetics and fragrance industries, has 60 employees and is expected to post approximately $13 million in sales for 2013, with strong continued growth expected.
