Advanced Vision Technology (AVT) Ltd – the world leader in print inspection, process control, quality assurance and color control for the packaging, label, folding carton, metal decoration and commercial print markets – has continued its cooperation with Nilpeter, a leading global manufacturer of label and narrow web printing machinery, introducing added-value features to the integrated AVT’s Microcolor/Mercury digital ink color control system.  The new features significantly decrease startup time and materials waste.

One such recent development is a CIP3 pre-setting that converts digital job files and accurately pre-sets ink fountains on the press.  With the new pre-setting, startup time and materials waste can be reduced by as much as 50%.

The product has built-in intelligence that allows it to become smarter over time: Pre-set accuracy can be gradually improved through the addition of an automatic self-learning feature, which applies corrections to the ink keys of digital pre-set files based on previously run jobs.

This latest version of Microcolor/Mercury and CIP3 pre-setting is on display at the Nilpeter Technology Centre in Slagelse Denmark where it has been installed on the company’s MO4 press.

The enhanced Microcolor/Mercury and CIP3 pre-setting solutions can be installed on new and existing presses. With more than hundreds of Nilpeter M3300 and MO4 presses currently equipped with Microcolor digital ink key control, customers can easily upgrade their existing equipment, gaining dramatic setup time improvement and fast ROI.

"Following the growing demand of the label and narrow web market for faster change over and shorter make-ready time, AVT & Nilpeter have collaborated, once again, to provide an integrated digital remote inking & CIP3 pre-setting solution to the Nilpeter M3300 and MO4 presses," said Gal Shamri, V.P. Corporate Business Development. "With a full upgradability path policy, new and existing customers can easily enjoy a major improvement in productivity and profitability while gaining a competitive edge, even with short run jobs".

"An increased number of Nilpeter customers are now ordering the CIP3 pre-setting with new offset combination presses,” said Jakob Landberg, Sales Director for Nilpeter A/S.  “This technology makes an already efficient press even more attractive for short run printing by significantly reducing startup time.  The potential for decreasing materials waste is also highly valuable."
