The acquisition will allow both companies to better serve their customers’ needs by offering a wider variety of locations and services. Effective Nov. 5, Welsh Paper Company will be known as Welsh Packaging Solutions.
Ernest Packaging Solutions will further expand Welsh Packaging with plans to open up a new distribution facility in Charlotte, as well as plans to double the total amount of employees over the next five years. Hiring will begin immediately, as the company plans to increase its workforce by 20 percent in the first few months of the acquisition, particularly in the merchandising and sales departments. Immediate plans include the hiring of a general sales manager. As of Nov. 5, Welsh Paper’s present employees will fall under Ernest Packaging Solutions management.
The acquisition allows Welsh Packaging Solutions to offer customers such benefits as, complete foam fabrication, kitting, access to their innovation lab, ISTA drop testing capabilities and full-sourced packaging products nationwide. Neither company plans to lay off employees as a result of the acquisition and the commitment to client service will remain the highest priority.
“With this acquisition, Ernest Packaging Solutions can now expand its family across the United States,” said Tim Wilson, president of Ernest Packaging Solutions. “Our philosophy is incredibly simple, as our core value revolves around best serving the customer. The first thing we plan to do is to evaluate how we can better serve our new family members and customers. The combined expertise and reach of both companies will improve company standards for everyone involved, as well as create new job opportunities for the state of North Carolina.”
“I am honored to welcome Welsh Packaging Solutions to the Ernest Family,” said Charles Wilson, chairman of Ernest Packaging Solutions. “With a rich 30-year history, proud family heritage and an outstanding service reputation throughout North Carolina, Welsh Packaging Solutions is the perfect addition to our growing family.
