The “FastTrak FlexiPak” program from EnVision and Coyote brings together two companies based in Phoenix: a contract manufacturing/packaging company (which usually are not versed in making pouches) with a pouch converter (which usually have no relationship with co-packers). The result is a quality package that allows product manufacturers to have the environmental advantages of a pouch, such as using water-based inks which have less than five percent volatile organic compounds (VOCs) compared with solvent-based inks containing 40 to 65 percent VOCs. Additionally, the new pouches produce a sparkling package that captures attention in the marketplace while minimizing expenses of such package upgrades. This is in keeping with EnVision's commitment to “encouraging environmental stewardship one package at a time.”
Coyote Kitchen provides the product manufacturing and packaging ability of FastTrak FlexiPak. With 27 years of experience as a private label food manufacturer, Coyote has been a supplier of bottled sauces, salsa and salad dressings. Paired with EnVision's industry knowledge of flexible packaging, Coyote's products can now be available in pouches in a mere four months or less. Additionally, Coyote is now equipped to step outside of their primary markets to contract manufacture and package additional products in pouches.
“The EnVision-Coyote relationship enables consumer product manufacturers to test the pouch market prior to making large capital investments,” explained Liesl Harder Kielp, EnVision's founder and president. “They can tweak their product and message at minimal cost.” She also added that the manufacturing of the pouches is accomplished within the United States, saving both time and money, and providing a valued input into the America's economy.
The founder and chief executive officer of Coyote Kitchen adds, “Our advantage is that we can give customers big company results with small company relationships,” explained Brent Cornelius. “We pride ourselves in customers being offered custom solutions to their packing needs."
“EnVision is smart in pouches, and Coyote is smart in manufacturing,” Kielp said. “This makes for a great team.”
Coyote's success factors include (1) private label market share and pricing, (2) sales and marketing resources, (3) product cost and quality, and (4) customer service. Coyote is also well-versed in new product development. The company has been a supplier to COSTCO Wholesale Corporation, the largest membership warehouse club chain in the United States, since 1995.
