Wound care receives 'cutting-edge' packaging

According to a Healthline.com article, “there have been tremendous advances made in the design and composition of dressings and bandages in recent years. The field is becoming increasingly complex, and there are numerous reports of healthcare workers applying inappropriate products.”

The article defines bandages and dressings used in wound management, their purpose, a description of different materials, applications for these products, maintenance, training, and health care team roles.

The global wound management product demand will rise 4.6% annually through 2013, according to the Freedonia study “World Wound Management Products to 2013.” The $5,800 study forecasts the global market for 2013 and 2018 by type, such as sutures, staples, bandages, wound dressings, and healing agents by global geographic markets.

A new wound care packaging development comes from Cheshire, England-based medical device company MedTrade's new Celox™ Pro and First Aids pads and bandages, designed to quickly stop bleeding. GenesisNews reports, “Medica Packaging, the pharmaceutical packaging business of the Benson Group, has detailed the packaging elements that it has provided for the launch.” Packaging includes
cartonboard reverse tuck-in end-style containers, individual sachets within the prefolded container with self-adhesive labels, and a folded patient information leaflet.
