Bemis Healthcare Packaging has commercially available alternatives to Barex® that can address various applications, such as nicotine, pain relief, and hormone therapy. These materials have undergone extensive testing and have been evaluated with various drugs showing excellent results, according to the vendor.

Bemis Healthcare Packaging recommends PerfecPharm™ P616 (CXB Sealant) or PerfecPharm™ P619 (PET Sealant) as an alternative to Barex. These specifications have been tested with nicotine where they exhibited low permeation and absorption.Further, these specifications meet the chemical resistance and barrier property requirements for most transdermal packaging.
