Chinese Universities Put HIV Test in Vending Machines

Three universities in Shanghai have added discounted HIV testing kits to promote early detection and de-stigmatize the virus.

New number of HIV cases in people aged 15-24 doubled between 2008 and 2015. According to a recent ABC article, universities in Shanghai are hoping to contain the spread of the virus with early detection a la vending machines. The schools are offering HIV self-test kits at a discounted price of just $6.20; alternative tests cost over $60 on the e-commerce site Taobao.
