Implant manufacturer under investigation for possible contamination

Regulators in Brazil suspended the company from making their breast and testicular implants.

A Brazilian breast and testicular implant manufacturer is under investigation for possible contamination "after microscopic particles that appeared to be cotton were found on the surface of some of its products" the Brisbane Times reported.

Although it is being called a precautionary measure, the news site reported that the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons has told their members to notify patients who have received Silimed implants.

An estimated 30,000 breast implants were part of the products supplied to Australian doctors.
