Tekni-Plex will be presenting a webinar on breathable packaging microbial barrier and coating options for sterile medical devices on July 14, 2:00 pm, eastern U.S. time.
Titled, Breathable Packaging: Microbial Barrier and Coatings, the webinar will be hosted by QMED and presented by Jennifer Eiker, product manager and Kyle Vafiadis, technical service engineer, Tekni-Plex healthcare packaging. (Free registration available here.)
The presentation will look at various factors and design considerations that should be taken into account when selecting the proper microbial barrier packaging to meet an application’s objectives. The pros and cons of various coating options will be discussed, as well as which structures can best address specific microbes.
“Our objective with this webinar is to deliver valuable information on what healthcare professionals should take under consideration when specifying structures for applications that need microbial barrier attributes,” explains Eiker. “Because Tekni-Plex works with medical device professionals on a daily basis to address these issues, the webinar will feature the latest best practices and technologies.”
Participants will learn about the attributes of a breathable packaging material, as well as how microbes migrate. They will also walk away with basic knowledge of the barriers to migration and test methods to determine if the barrier targets are being met. Additionally, the discussion will include an overview on coatings and how they function, including theory, sealing and testing.
