1912: James T. Greely invented the first real disposable syringes and patented their design in 1912. Merck legacy company H.K. Mulford used his patented technology for their Mulford Hypo-Units ready-to-use, sterile disposable syringes. They became ideal for use on the battlefield during World War I.
