PACK EXPO East owner and producer PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, has just confirmed Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter will welcome PACK EXPO East to the Pennsylvania Convention Center on Monday, Feb. 16, 2015, at 4 p.m. The mayor will make his appearance at the Opening Reception (Grand Hall, 4–6 p.m.).
“PACK EXPO East complements Mayor Nutter’s mission to support and expand the manufacturing community in Greater Philadelphia,” says Charles D. Yuska, President & CEO, PMMI. “PACK EXPO East is a forum where manufacturing professionals can find solutions and innovations to grow their businesses and in doing so, support the health of manufacturing in Philadelphia.”
Joining the mayor will be City Councilman Bobby Henon (6th District). Nutter and Henon, with the support of Councilman-at-large David Oh, created The Manufacturing Matters Task Force. The goal of this collaborative partnership between Philadelphia’s city departments, agencies, city council, regional leaders, private industry, public institutions and community leaders is to put together a roadmap for Philadelphia’s manufacturing future.
“The Manufacturing Matters Task Force is an example of the city’s commitment to the industries PACK EXPO East attendees and exhibitors serve, and will recommend improvements in education and training to support the city’s workforce,” Yuska adds.
PACK EXPO East, the newest event in PMMI's portfolio of PACK EXPO trade shows, debuts at the Pennsylvania Convention Center Feb. 16–18. With more than 300 exhibitors and 1,000 net sq-ft of exhibit space, the show will give manufacturing professionals of all levels of experience, backgrounds and market segments a chance to explore and compare the latest innovations in processing and packaging side by side.
