Hi, I'm Aaron Hand, editor in chief of ProFood World.

Pack Expo is returning to an in-person event next month. I'm pretty excited about getting back to the Las Vegas Convention Center myself. But if you're anything like me, you've still got a fair bit of planning to do to make sure you can make the most of the show this year. So that's what I'm here for today to help you out with that.

In our last take five video, Joyce Fassl took us through everything related to the processing zone, which is our North Hall showcase that is really the most relevant to most ProFood World readers.

With more than 1,500 exhibitors at Pack Expo Las Vegas and Healthcare Packaging Expo, there'll probably be a lot more exhibitors and other parts of the show that you'll want to make sure you stop by their booths. But let me tell you about some of the other exhibits and events that are going on throughout the show.

While you're in the North Hall checking out the processing zone, I encourage you to look for a new interactive exhibit that we'll have called Pack to the Future. This kind of takes you on a journey through the evolution of packaging and processing, showing how as civilization changed and trade increased, how that affected packaging.

Also, the onset of the industrial and scientific revolutions, the kind of impact that they had, especially with mass production and then also you can get a look into the future with digital technologies. So at the Pack to the Future exhibit, there will be a Pack to the Future stage, and on the stage, we'll have 30 minute presentations. For example, on Monday, we've got artificial intelligence, Tuesday is the future of sustainability, and Wednesday, there's a session on augmented reality, and there's a whole lot more on all three of those days, so check that out.

The Processing Zone has its own innovation stage as Joyce detailed in her presentation, but there are three other Innovation Stages in the Central Hall as well. These are 30-minute presentations that our exhibitor hosted. They have seminars on breakthroughs and best practices, and there are really way too many to list here, or even to show you here, but again, there'll be a link below for those innovation stages, so check that out in our program. For more education opportunities, you can check out the forum. These are 45 minute sessions. They're also in the Central Hall. They'll be on industry trends, Q&A with industry leaders, all sorts of things along those lines. So again, check out the link below.

Let's explore a little bit more of what is going on at Pack Expo Las Vegas. There are several pavilions that you might want to check out, but I want to highlight one in particular is the Confectionary Pavilion. It's in the upper South Hall. It'll have several exhibits there that showcase technologies and trends in aeration, in batch processing, in shaping and cluster production and a whole lot more.

Also in the confectionary pavilion is the Candy Bar Lounge, which is a great place just to network with your peers, get insights, and also just to recharge your batteries. There will be a reception in the candy bar lounge also Tuesday afternoon, 3:30 to 5:00.

So now back to all those booths you'll be walking through. As you're going across the show floor, please be sure to put your vote in for the technology excellence awards and these recognize innovations among the exhibitors for products that they're showing for the first time. All registered attendees are eligible to vote, and they will present the awards on Tuesday, September 28th. And you can actually see in the containers and materials pavilion, a collection of winners from the past year plus in the showcase and packaging innovations.

Finally, don't miss the Packaging and Processing Women's Leadership Network Breakfast. Their theme this year is new world of work where they're going to be looking at how digital technologies and automation have affected the workplace, also looking at workforce diversity and gender parity, and really looking at the latest generation of workers to enter the workforce, Gen Z, who started their careers as digital natives. They are socially focused and care passionately about the earth and equality. So a panel of experts will be looking at all those issues and particularly how those issues affect women in manufacturing.

I hope to see you all at Pack Expo Las Vegas. In the meantime, use the links below to plan your trip. Thanks a lot for tuning in. I know we had a lot to cover.
