Varcode™, maker of patented digital, time- and temperature-sensitive supply chain solutions, today announced it has appointed Joseph Battoe as the company’s new president and CEO. The company also elected two new board members: Dr. Gian Fulgoni and Mitch Singer.

Varcode delivers data-rich time- and temperature-based traceability for food and beverage, pharma and life science, and related industries, including the fast-growing grocery e-commerce sector. The Varcode platform protects product quality, reduces waste, ensures safety and compliance, and preserves product freshness throughout the supply chain. The innovative solution is mobile-first, cloud-based and blockchain enabled.

Mr. Battoe comes to Varcode with more than 30 years’ executive experience driving growth for a diverse mix of startups and publicly held companies. He most recently served as an adviser to multiple growth stage companies in the MarTech and business services sectors. Mr. Battoe previously served in senior management roles that include executive vice president, solutions at Mobeam; senior vice president of corporate development at DS-IQ; co-founder and CEO of Concept Shopping; CEO of Intelledge; chairman of LogicNet; and division president at Information Resources Inc. He will also serve on Varcode’s board of directors.

“As we transition Varcode from the research and development stage to commercialization, we anticipate faster and broader growth with the experience that Joe, Gian and Mitch bring to our company,” said Yaron Nemet, Varcode’s chief technology officer and director of Israeli operations. “Under their leadership, we will empower cold chain operators with new, cost-effective technology solutions with the capability of reducing costly and dangerous problem occurrences to zero.”

Mr. Battoe added: “I was immediately drawn to the patented science and technology behind Varcode’s solution, which is as remarkable as it is revolutionary. We are already creating new levels of value and service for our markets by delivering invaluable insights, mission critical information and real-time alerts to cold chain operators. I’m honored to be part of this team.”

Varcode elected Dr. Fulgoni as Varcode’s executive chairman, effective immediately. Dr. Fulgoni is the former chairman and CEO of ComScore (NASDAQ: SCOR) and previously served as chairman and CEO of Information Resources Inc. He also serves on the boards of directors at PetMed Express, Inc. (NASDAQ: PETS), the country’s largest pet pharmacy and Prophet, a leading brand and marketing consultancy.

Varcode also appointed Mr. Singer as a board member. He currently serves as CEO of PL Developments, a leading manufacturer, packager, and distributor of over-the-counter pharmaceutical products and consumer healthcare goods. He brings more than 30 years of highly relevant industry expertise and leadership to the growing Varcode team.
