TruTag Technologies, a provider of product identity solutions, today announced that itsSecuriLamTM laminate product, the world’s first off-the-shelf intelligent laminate used for supply chain security and traceability purposes, has been named the 2018 New Product of the Year in the Loss Prevention category by Security Today magazine.

Security Today magazine is the leading industry media brand providing technology, education and solutions for security professionals. TheSecurity Today New Product of the Year Award honors the outstanding product development achievements of security equipment manufacturers whose products are considered to be particularly noteworthy in their ability to improve security.

SecuriLamTM comes with microscopic encoded silica particles, or “TruTags®” pre-embedded into standard adhesive laminate film stock for easy adoption in label, document, and packaging applications. These TruTags are covert to the naked eye and do not affect the elegance or finish of the adhesive laminate or final product. The nano-porous microtags are made of high-purity silicon dioxide, which is a food-grade material and is considered Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) by the United States Food and Drug Administration. TruTags are manufactured using Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) standards, providing an environmentally friendly security solution.

“We are happy to be recognized by Security Today for delivering cutting-edge supply chain security and traceability for label, document and packaging applications,” said Michael Bartholomeusz, chief executive officer of TruTag Technologies. “The globalization of supply chains has led to a loss of control and visibility, so this award in the loss prevention category speaks volumes about our advanced ‘crypto-anchor’ expertise in offering unrivaled product security to a blockchain-based supply chain.”

“This is the 10th year that we have sponsored the New Product of the Year contest, and each year I am amazed at not only the quality of the products but the intuitive nature behind the development of the products,” said Ralph C. Jensen, editor-in-chief and content director of Security Today. “There is real genius behind the products that have been entered, and I’m pleased that we can help bring this new technology to the forefront of the security industry.”
