Responsibility towards people and the environment is a central part of SIG's corporate strategy. Internationally-recognized certifications are proof of SIG's performance in this area. They give customers the assurance that at SIG, they are purchasing products and services from a responsible supplier. In the latest EcoVadis assessment, SIG’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) performance achieved gold status. In the overall evaluation, SIG is among the top 1% of all companies evaluated.

Michael Hecker, Head of Corporate Responsibility at SIG: "CSR performance is an important aspect for many of our customers, also. They benefit from consistent, transparent, and comparable supplier evaluation platforms such as EcoVadis. Being one of the top 1% in EcoVadis' sustainability ranking this year makes us very proud and is another important step in going WAY BEYOND GOOD." This is a part of how SIG describes the roadmap to becoming a "net positive" business throughout the entire value chain, i.e. to contribute more to the environment and society than it takes out.

The rating is based on a detailed document assessment by EcoVadis analysts. It takes into account 21 CSR criteria that are tailored to the industry and its individual CSR risk profiles, including aspects such as work processes and business practices, corporate policies, sustainable sourcing as well as environmental, social, and ethical performance. In 2015, SIG achieved gold status already, with a rating of 64 out of 100 points and was able to improve further to 77 out of 100 points in 2017. This makes SIG one of the top 1% of all rated companies.

Michael Hecker: "Proven sustainable action is important for us, our customers, and consumers. And we take our responsibility very seriously. It is at the heart of our corporate strategy and determines how we run our business, procure our raw materials, manufacture our products, and set our goals. And it shows how we support our customers in sustainability issues. In addition to the verification via EcoVadis, SIG is also a member of the SEDEX (Supplier Ethical Data Exchange) platform, for example.”
