Colbert Packaging Corporation has installed a Mark Andy Performance Series P5 for pressure-sensitive roll label applications. The P5 features a 13-inch web width and utilizes a four-color print process, and its servo-based platform delivers superior print quality and high productivity through simple operation, rapid changeovers and reduced spoilage.

“This new press has all the latest bells and whistles, and we look forward to showing our customers what it can do, but what really sold us on the P5 is its amazing print quality and high efficiency,” said Brad Davis, vice president and general manager of Colbert Flexographic Packaging.

Designed to meet the high demands of today’s quick-turn pressure-sensitive label market, the Mark Andy P5 produces both paper and film-based labels. The press’ innovative print head configuration substantially reduces make-ready times, and Mark Andy’s quick change die cut system allows the operator to slide a new rotary die into place in a matter of seconds. Furthermore, a shorter web path, more stable web tension and an automated register system all result in reduced spoilage.

The Mark Andy P5 label press joins an extensive repertoire of equipment – including a narrow web folding carton press, a nine-color flexo press, an additional pressure-sensitive label press, multiple label inspection presses, folder-gluers and other finishing equipment – in Colbert’s 45,000 sq. ft. flexographic printing facility. In addition to labels, folding cartons and product information inserts are also produced in this facility, which is located two blocks from Colbert Packaging headquarters.
