GEA is delighted to receive the award for Best Technologies Innovation at this year’s INTERPHEX event in New York

Recognised for outstanding achievements in cutting-edge technologies, GEA was presented with the award during the show’s opening ceremony on 21 April for its standardised development and manufacturing technology platform: PCMM (Portable, Continuous, Miniature and Modular).

H. McCoy Knight, National Sales Manager, GEA Pharma Systems, noted: “The development of small-scale, continuous manufacturing (CM) systems will be one of the most significant changes in the pharmaceutical industry in the next 10 years. Flexible development options will facilitate the commercial manufacturing process and enable greater process understanding to be achieved with smaller quantities of material.”

He continued: “To create the next generation of oral solid dosage (OSD) processing technologies and address the rapidly changing requirements of drug manufacturers, Pfizer, GEA and G-Con Manufacturing created a consortium to design and build a portable, autonomous manufacturing environment for continuous OSD production using GEA’s ConsiGma™-25 system and G-CON's modular POD system. Winning this award is welcome recognition for the effort and innovation that went into PCMM and clearly reflects excellence in pharmaceutical development and manufacturing.”

Since 1981, INTERPHEX has increasingly gained industry attention for its high-level attendees, cutting-edge technologies and networking opportunities. The inaugural INTERPHEX Exhibitor Awards were established to recognise companies that provide cutting-edge technologies and value-added solutions that enhance bio/pharmaceutical development and manufacturing and inevitably lead to business success. The ultimate goal of the awards is to celebrate innovative technologies and/or new strategies and services that transform critical and affordable life-enhancing ideas to finished drug products.

McCoy concluded: “GEA would like to thank the judges for their time and consideration, and for finding our nomination worthy of this award. I’d also like to acknowledge the invaluable contributions from Pfizer and G-CON. It’s an honour to be recognised at the very first INTERPHEX Exhibitor Awards and we look forward to participating again next year.”
