MACtac® Printing Products has added 14 thermal transfer ribbons to its list of Underwriter Laboratories (UL) Approved ribbons for use with Durable Films 2-mil matte silver polyester under the Marking and Labeling System PGJI2. The pre-certification benefits converters by eliminating new testing when using MACtac Durable Films Products with the pre-approved thermal transfer ribbons.
“Compliance with UL's Component Recognition Program offers a convenient way for our label converters and end users to meet performance of marking requirements,” said Kim Hensley, product manager, MACtac Printing Products. “We are constantly seeking ways to make it easier for our customers to get products to the market faster. With pre-approval for these thermal transfer ribbons, we reduce time spent qualifying substrates.”
Specially designed for lawn and garden, appliance and nameplate, and chemical drum applications, MACtac Durable Films are available as general purpose and specialty films, overlaminates, and transfer tapes for the toughest labeling challenges.
When using UL Recognized MACtac products, converters now have pre-approved compliance that they can rely on to ensure fast market access because of reduced costs and time spent qualifying substrates. Pre-approval means no new testing is required, only a paper transfer which can be submitted through an Internet portal, via email or phone. Using pre-approved products can save up to 12 weeks of inconvenient testing.

UL is an independent product safety testing and certification organization that has been testing products and writing standards for more than a century. UL's Marking & Labeling Systems Program covers labels that display safety and warning information on UL certified components and products. Most products are required to be permanently marked with specific safety-related information such as hazards, warnings, cautionary markings, installation instructions and electrical ratings.
