USA and France will analyse and enhance innovation in Life Sciences as an economic force for growth

The French American Innovation Day (FAID) is the flagship seminar of the Office of Science and Technology of the French Embassy in the U.S. (Boston section).

Focused on innovation in life sciences, the 2013 edition of the FAID will address how investment and initiatives in this sector may lead to the overall growth, expansion, and recovery of the economy for the benefit of patients.  It will explore the novel ways of ensuring efficient collaboration that are emerging, mostly driven by the concept of open innovation based on cooperation and sharing between partners. 
 
Bearing the title “Innovation in Life Sciences as a Driver for Growth”, the seminar breaks down into 2 days:
• The first day with four thought-provoking roundtable sessions , each addressing relevant issues and sharing best practices in life sciences innovation and transatlantic partnerships ;
• The second day will be dedicated to presentations of innovative American and French start up companies to the financial and biopharmaceutical communities for funding and collaboration;
with the help of two accomplished scientific directors,
• Dr. Christophe Benoist, Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at Harvard Medical School, Member of the French Académie des Sciences and the US National Academy of Sciences
• Dr. Joshua Boger, founder of Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated (NASDAQ: VRTX) and the Executive Chairman of Alkeus Pharmaceuticals
The 2013 FAID is designed by and for the stakeholders in R&D, technology transfer, strategic alliances and funding/venturing in Life Sciences from both countries. This event is open to and welcomes both corporations and academia.
 
It will take place at the Joseph B. Martin Conference Center at Harvard Medical School located at 77 Avenue Louis Pasteur in Boston, Massachusetts 02115, on December 5th and 6th, 2013.
 
The event is co-sponsored by Inserm (Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale), Inserm Transfert, Inserm Transfert Initiative, and the Office of Science & Technology of the French Embassy in the USA.
