New name and program re-launch for MEDICA 2013 Conference

The conference program for MEDICA 2013, International Trade Fair with Congress – World Forum for Medicine, is undergoing a full re-launch.

This content was written and submitted by the supplier. It has only been modified to comply with this publication’s space and style.

The content repositioning for MEDICA 2013 (to be held from November 20 – 23, 2103 in Düsseldorf, Germany) is designed to closely fit the program of the trade fair’s topics relevant to medical equipment users and to expand the international side of the program. To reflect these changes, the name of the conference has been changed to “MEDICA Conferences & Forums” – a name which is more common internationally for conferences, meetings and conventions.

“The MEDICA conference, which regularly attracts several thousand participants, has until now only been well-known in Germany. But now over half of the visitors at MEDICA come from outside of Germany. This continuous increase in international interest does justice to the program, which has been professionally reviewed and fine-tuned with the help of renowned experts”, explained Joachim Schäfer, Managing Director of Messe Düsseldorf.

The key points of the conference program have been established by a prominent expert panel. With the title MEDICA EDUCATION CONFERENCE, courses that were well-attended in previous years form the basis of general medical topics and practical courses on equipment, which are CME certified for continuing medical professional development. There will also be seminars on subjects covering different sectors relevant to specialists of different fields, such as emergency medicine and gender-specific medicine.

The English-language parts of the conference program at MEDICA 2013 will included a series of lectures on current aspects of individualized medicine, an international conference on disaster and military medicine as well as a first-class event for international sports medicine specialists. The themes of this conference range from preventive approaches in sports medicine to therapeutic procedures and include the use of modern electromedical devices.

German Hospital Day and European Hospital Conference
Another firm fixture in the MEDICA 2013 schedule is the 36th German Hospital Day, the leading information and communication platform for all hospital decision-makers in Germany. In addition, around 150 to170 chief decision-makers from hospitals around Europe are expected to attend the second EUROPEAN HOSPITAL CONFERENCE (EHC), to be held on November 20, 2013. This year, the content will focus on the European Patient Directive and liability issues connected with medical malpractice.

Forums and trade fair
Other elements of the MEDICA Conferences & Forums program will include forums on leading trends held as part of the trade fair. These will consist of the MEDICA HEALTH IT FORUM (IT trends, telemedicine/ Hall 15) and the MEDICA TECH FORUM (developments in the field of high-tech medicine) with presentations in English, the MEDICA PHYSIO FORUM (physiotherapy procedures/ Hall 4) and the MEDICA ECON FORUM, successfully launched in 2012 by Messe Düsseldorf and the Techniker Krankenkasse (TK).

In 2012, MEDICA was the world's largest medical trade fair with 4,554 exhibitors from over 60 countries and 130,600 specialist visitors. Based on current exhibitor registrations, participation in this year's event promises to be just as strong. At MEDICA 2013, exhibitors will present the full spectrum of new products for quality and efficient medical care in hospitals and the outpatient sector, ranging from medical technology and electromedicine to laboratory technology, physiotherapy products, orthopedic technology and health IT.

COMPAMED 2013 will perfectly complement the content of MEDICA 2013. With almost 700 exhibitors, it is the international leading market platform for suppliers to the medical technology industry (to be held from November 20 - 22, 2013 in Halls 8a and 8b).
