• Approval granted by antitrust authorities
• The Königsbrunn-based packaging specialist employs 250 associates
• Existing portfolio expanded to include the area of low-germ and aseptic processing of pre-formed cups and bottles

Packaging division strengthened in the area of paste-like and liquid food

Bosch Packaging Technology has closed its acquisition of Ampack Ammann, a filling and packaging machine specialist. The antitrust authorities have approved the appropriate documents. The contract governing the purchase by Bosch of the company based in Königsbrunn near Augsburg, Germany, had been signed in July of this year. Ampack Ammann develops, manufactures, and sells filling and packaging machines for paste-like and liquid food. Employing some 250 associates, the company has generated average sales of some 35 million euros over the past few years. It has been agreed that the purchase price will not be disclosed.

Pushing ahead with diversification

“In acquiring Ampack Ammann, we are pushing strongly ahead with our strategy of diversification,” said Friedbert Klefenz, president of the Bosch Packaging Technology division. “We are acquiring an attractive product portfolio that our worldwide sales and service network will allow us to offer to existing and prospective customers around the world."

Ampack Ammann's business activities have been assigned to Bosch Packaging Technology's Liquid Food business unit with immediate effect. Founded in 1973, the company will remain an independent unit and will be operated as a Bosch subsidiary. Its products will in future continue to be marketed under the Ampack Ammann name.

Trio of managers assumes executive management

With immediate effect, executive management of the new subsidiary has passed to Dr. Wilhelm Wazel (from Ampack Ammann, where he was technical director for many years), Markus Schlumberger, and Markus Follmann (both from Bosch Packaging Technology in Crailsheim). “It is my pleasure towarmly welcome the management trio and all associates in Königsbrunn, and I am certain that with their expertise we will unify the competencies of both companies to take another great step toward achieving further growth," said Jürgen Katzenbach, business unit vicepresident for Liquid Food at Bosch Packaging Technology.

Ampack Ammann also offers complete filling lines

Equipment developed by Ampack Ammann includes cup and bottle filling machines as well as dosing systems and peripheral machinery. The equipment is mainly used to fill and package highly sensitive food such as dairy products, baby food, drinks, and hospital food, but also dosable food products such as cereals. Apart from manufacturing its own machines and equipment, the company also offers an extensive range of after-sales services. These include the maintenance and overhaul of used machinery, the supply of spare parts, the validation of filling lines, and training programs for machine operators. Ampack Ammann also acts as general contractor for complete filling and case packing lines.
