A new acquisition to become even more competitive on the worldwide marketplace.

Marchesini Group S.p.A. announced the acquisition of the pharmaceutical and cosmetic division of PRB S.p.A. The acquisition includes the secondary packaging technologies (wrappers, case packers, cartoners and palletizers) for pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. Although this field of business is already an integral part of Marchesini's production range, it will allow the Group to offer the market even more integrated technological solutions for the supply of complete lines for the pharmaceutical and cosmetic packaging industry.

The CEO of Marchesini Group and member of the board of directors of UCIMA (Association of Italian Automatic Machinery Manufacturers), Maurizio Marchesini commented: “PRB has developed a greatly appreciated core technology and we see this acquisition as a major opportunity to be able to offer customers across the world complete and integrated cutting-edge lines, backed by a world-class after sales and technical assistance service”. During this initial transition phase, Marchesini and PRB will work together to provide a proficient sales, after sales and customer support service. Towards the end of the year, Marchesini will start to manufacture the machines exploiting PRB's technology.

Matteo Gentili, Chairman of PRB and member of the board of directors of UCIMA, confirmed that “Marchesini's acquisition of our Pharma and Cosmetic division will allow us to focus on all the other diversified markets. Marchesini Group is a world-class leader in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic packaging industry and is able to offer customers a guaranteed and proficient source for complete packaging lines”.
