Marchesini Group SpA announced today the acquisition of Pharma and Cosmetic technology from PRB S.p.A.

The acquisition includes technology for secondary packaging (wrappers, case packers, cartoners and palletizers) of pharmaceutical and cosmetic products.

Although packaging is an integral part of Marchesini Group product line, this acquisition will allow additional packaging platforms to be offered as highly integrated system solutions inside pharmaceutical and cosmetic markets.

Maurizio Marchesini, C.E.O. of Marchesini Group and member of the board of directors of UCIMA (Association of Italian Automatic Machinery Manufacturers), states: "PRB has very good core technology; we see this as a great opportunity to be able to provide our worldwide customers with complete and integrated lines supported by world class parts, services and technical support”.

During the transition period, Marchesini Group and PRB will work together to provide sales information, customer support and service. Marchesini Group is expected to begin manufacturing machines based on PRB technology later this year.

Matteo Gentili, Chairman of PRB and member of the board of directors of UCIMA, states: "The sale of Pharma and Cosmetic technology to Marchesini Group, allows us to focus on some specific businesses, such as food, confectionery, detergents, facial tissue and tissue, strategic to our Network of Companies. Marchesini Group is a world leader in Pharma and Cosmetic technology and their ability to provide their customers with a single source for the complete line will benefit the industry."

In addition, Marchesini Group will also offer machines based on PRB technology as stand-alone units that can be integrated into other OEM equipment, or as upgrades to currently installed lines.

Specific customer communication including additional information on the transition will take place in the near future.
