Adept Technology Opens New Office in China

Adept Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq:ADEP), a leading provider of intelligent robots and autonomous mobile solutions, has announced the opening of its first subsidiary in China, marking a significant milestone in the company's global expansion strategy.

Adept has been supplying intelligent robotics to its channel partners and end-users in China for the last ten years. The new Shanghai office positions the company to support its existing customer base and maximize China's continuing growth opportunities at the same time.

"Adept robots have been exported to China for over a decade now through the tremendous support and loyalty of our partners and network of automation system integrators," says Hai Chang, managing director, Asia operations, and general manager, Adept China. "With the opening of this Shanghai office, Adept's Asia team is dedicated to providing a new elevated level of support for our long-time and newer channel partners, systems integrators, and manufacturing clients."

The new Shanghai office will provide a full range of Adept intelligent robot and autonomous mobile solutions, services, and support for manufacturers and automation users throughout China. Adept's domestic and international engineers located in the new office will provide feasibility studies, product demonstrations, customer training sessions, and maintenance and repair services. Adept Shanghai has already been stocked with an inventory of critical spare parts allowing for the rapid support and response to end-user factories.

This newest Adept technical center is centrally-located in Shanghai in the Xuhui District within the Shanghai Caohejing Hi-Tech Park at 889 Yishan Road. Shanghai Caohejing Hi-Tech Park is a state-level economic and technological development zone, a high-tech industrial development zone, as well as a national export processing zone.

With its rising manufacturing costs driven by continuing urbanization, increasing labor costs, and labor shortages, China is the fastest growing country for the automation industry. Experts predict that by 2014, China will become the largest consumer of industrial robots in the world.
