Deborah Smook, VP of Marketing and Business Development and an owner of
the company accepted the award.
This award recognized a large sale that TurboFil closed for export of a highly
specialized parts assembly project for an Israeli defense contractor, as well as for
TurboFil's growing export business. The deposit payments for this sale were financed
by TD Bank with the backing of the SBA's Export Working Capital program.
In her acceptance speech, Ms. Smook commented on TurboFil's international success.
“TurboFil is an example of the new American manufacturer. We are a small company
competing with giants from all over the world and winning sales based on customization
and personalized service. We can be competitive internationally because our products
demand a high level of technology, engineering and capital to produce.”
Co owners Ms. Smook and Eli Uriel have grown TurboFil from a concept to a growing
company with 10 employees. Mr. Uriel explained TurboFil's success. “TurboFil's
product offering is unique in that we have both the flexibility and the technical expertise
to truly customize products to our customers' needs. We have developed a number of
proprietary designs focusing on easy changeover and product adaptability that give us
an edge in the marketplace.”
Toni Corsini, is the Regional Manager, Export Solutions Group, Office of International
Trade of the Small Business Administration and assisted TurboFIl in obtaining the
Export Working Capital assistance. Ms. Corsini said, “TurboFil's success is a lesson to
other small companies, that they can expand internationally, gain significant new sales
and add or preserve jobs. I am very happy that the SBA Office of International Trade
was able to help TurboFil with this accomplishment.“
