The inventive program, “Fast Tracking Sustainable Innovation,” takes place Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1:00-4:30 pm; at McCormick Place.“It's a combination reality show and panel discussion , and a great way to give knowledgeable buyers a look at exciting, new sustainable packaging solutions.” says Charles D. Yuska, president & CEO of PMMI, the owner and producer of the PACK EXPO trade shows.PAC Green Den brings together the ingredients of successful reality television and business matchmaking:
* “Innovators” will present their solutions to a panel of experts with sustainability, regulatory and packaging experience, in front of a live audience of brand owners and retailers. After the expert panelists challenge the innovators and deliver constructive feedback, the audience will vote for a Best of Show winner. The three top winners will receive PAC Green Den Sustainable Awards.
* Innovators will conduct 15-minute private meetings with brand owners t o discuss their creative offerings in greater depth.
* TerraCycle's Tom Szaky, one of upcycling's greatest innovators, will tell the TerraCycle story in a short keynote address.
Innovators will have roughly seven minutes to present their cases to the panel and audience, and up to eight minutes to respond to feedback and commentary. “Brand owners and retailers are bombarded with inquiries from inventors and wish to explore every new sustainable package and process opportunity but don't always have the time,” says James D. Downham, president & CEO, PAC. “PAC is bringing this program to PACK EXPO because we know leading packaging buyers will be there to find the best solutions to their sustainability-related challenges.”The PAC Green Den Match Maker committee will select no more than 10 entries from submissions by PACK EXPO exhibitors.
Entries must come from PACK EXPO exhibitors. The guiding light for the entries is the Sustainable Packaging Coalition definition which incorporates all aspects of sustainability as related to sustainable packaging. Suppliers of raw materials, package containers, manufacturing and/or facility processes and consulting services are invited to submit their entries.Innovator entry forms are online at www.pac.ca.
The program, open to all attendees of PACK EXPO, will be covered by a separate fee. Attendees can register at Packexpo.com.
