A recent Marijuana Business Daily article discussed a major blow to the Washington state’s marijuana-infused edibles businesses. During a meeting of the state Liquor and Cannabis Board, it was announced, “all production of hard candy, tarts, fruit chews, colorful chocolates, jellies and any gummy type products should cease.” New regulations will take effect January first, and the aforementioned products will not qualify for sale as they fall under the state’s definition of marijuana-infused products that are “appealing to children.”

Local small marijuana businesses consider the surprise announcement “devastating” as they lose an entire product line. The article notes that chocolate, cookies, caramels and mint production will still be allowed, but with limitations.
