According to a recent FiercePharma article, multinational healthcare company Roche is changing thins up in the packaging department and shedding jobs in the process. The Swiss company said it expects to handle the packaging of each product at the site it’s produced. Their site in Kaiseraugst, Switzerland, which currently handles quality control and packaging for several small-molecule drugs, will lose roughly 235 jobs.

The news came just hours after news that Roche will eliminate 130 jobs from its Genentech biologics plant in Vacaville, California. The company’s statement regarding the California job cuts said, “We are making this organizational change in response to current and anticipated production requirements, the volumes required for some of our new medicine formulations and shift schedule adjustments.”
