'Revolutionary' refresh for Summer's Eve packaging
First introduced in the 1970s, the Summer's Eve brand of external feminine cleansing and freshening products from C.B. Fleet Co., Inc., Lynchburg, VA, is a category leader. But in mid-2009, the company realized that although it had a strong and loyal following, the brand's outdated packaging hampered a long-term growth strategy. A complete transformation for its packaging now brings brand relevancy to a new generation of users. The Summer's Eve product line consists of 33 SKUs, comprising five package structures, six product types, and 17 fragrances. Products include a cleansing wash, a deodorant spray, a body powder, cleansing cloths, and a bath and shower gel.

Defect analysis helps contract packager save money
Plastic containers often display cosmetic defects such as inclusions, spots, or discoloration that do not necessarily affect the integrity of the product, but may trigger a negative impression from the consumer. By using microanalytical techniques, an unnamed contract packager was able to pinpoint the source of unwanted black swirls in its bottles and avoid paying for the defective containers.
