Surviving a new era of FDA enforcement
Since 2009, FDA's increased power and budget have led to more seizures, injunctions, Warning Letters, and recall events, with penalties enforced to discourage future offenses. More inspections and public enforcement actions—even YouTube videos—are part of the new strategy the agency hopes will ultimately help safeguard consumers of healthcare-focused products.

Animal hospital analyzes pet packaging
Dr. Rae Ann Van Pelt, DVM and co-founder of 21-year-old Family Pet Animal Hospital in Chicago, gives a "paws up" and "paws down" to different veterinary packages. New dosing feature for Pedia Care
For single-concentration brands of children's PediaCare and Little Remedies products, new packaging helps to protect infants and children under age two. The new two-piece dosing syringe with barrel and plunger is Prestige Brands way of demonstrating its commitment to accurate dosing, safety, and innovation. The voluntary change makes sense given the FDA's preference for the drug industry to make acetaminophen safer.

Anti-counterfeiting label
Pharma-Comb Void label with integrated covert inscriptions helps eliminate the illegal practice of empty vials being refilled with fake drugs and resold. Multipart label with integrated security features; label is functionally destroyed during its initial use. When the label's tear strip is removed, the inscriptions "opened" and "used" appear, making undetected reuse of a glass container with an original label virtually impossible.
