Packaging 'pain points' reveal frustrations

A recent Healthcare Packaging reader survey asked, "In your most pressing project, what are your pain points?" Responses focused on validation, regulatory, and standards issues, as well as cost concerns, and package design. A manufacturing company respondent identified his primary pain point: "Getting the organization to spend more money on the packaging to make it 'WOW' the consumer and truly be innovative."

Packaging eases administration, discomfort for four-legged patients

Sliding mechanism earns Sanofi-Aventis honors

Sanofi-Aventis' DolipraneLib is one of five products honored recently at the Impact Pharmacien awards in France. The paracetamol product uses Burgopak's Healthcare & Technology slider, and was distinguished in the "Family Medicine" category of the awards, which recognizes products for their contributions to pharmacies in France. The patented sliding mechanism helps differentiate DolipranelLib in a crowded, competitive market.

Social media and packaging education

Perhaps just in time, social media appears as if it could play a beneficial role in helping younger packaging pros learn this business function. Students have easier access to professionals, and may feel more comfortable communicating with pros than with more traditional methods. Conversely, experienced packaging veterans may learn about social media from more junior colleagues.

NEW Products


Eco-friendly tray carton

"Eco/Save/Pack" is a recyclable, mono-packaging material tray carton that, protects product during transport, and is produced on the CUT 120 horizontal cartoning machine at rates up to 120 pieces/min. Pack style was created by Bosch in cooperation with carton manufacturer Faller. Booklets, outserts, or prefolded inserts from a roll or from a sheet can be inserted into the packaging.

Outsert systems

MV-11 Outsert System folds outserts as small as 1-1/8" x 1-1/8", flatter, 15% thinner, and with up to 40% more panels than previous models. The modular design gives you maximum flexibility in production and equipment investment. The MV-11 Triple Knife Outsert System folds outserts with up to 238 panels; the MV-11 Double Knife Outsert System folds outserts with up to 170 panels; and the MV-11 Single Knife Outsert System folds outserts with up to 110 panels. Systems can be configured as required by the job. The G&K FA 53 Folder permits easy setup with zero make-ready plates and quick caliper-set rollers, a new double-sheet ejection system, feeder setup recall, and intelligent jam detection. Speeds are up to 14,000 cycles/hr.
