Walgreens donates 375,000 doses of influenza vaccine that UPS air-ships in two temperature-controlled containers from Cool Containers that travel more than 9,000 miles in five days through five countries, all the while maintaining mandatory 2°C to 8°C temperatures through a range of climates. In late April, as flu season approached in Southeast Asia, the vaccines reached Lao People's Democratic Republic (referred to as Lao PDR or Laos) for administration to a population in need.

Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) will reap the rewards as pharmaceutical production becomes increasingly globalized, according to a new report by business intelligence firm GBI Research. The report anticipates that the global CMO market will grow steadily due to the increased outsourcing of pharmaceutical production by western pharmaceutical manufacturers to Asian countries. The availability of adequate numbers of current good manufacturing practices and compliant manufacturing sites in Asia make India and China popular outsourcing destinations of choice for CMOs.
