Passing judgment on compliance-prompting packaging

After spending a couple of hours at Interphex New York 2011 judging a dozen pharmaceutical packages for the Healthcare Compliance Packaging Counci's 2010 "Compliance Package of the Year" competition, this editor developed a greater respect for the responsibilities faced by package designers.

During the March 29 -31 exhibition in New York, the Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute announced further details about the upcoming Pharmaceutical Pavilion it will have at the Sept. 26 -28 Pack Expo Las Vegas show at the Las Vegas Convention Center. New York's Duane Reade finds a cure in private label

In less than two years, Duane Reade's private-label brands have doubled in sales, with some of the New York City-based drugstore chain's private brands emerging as bestsellers. Redesigned stores, repositioned brands, and feels-like-home package designs win back New Yorkers with "attitude." The use of color, imagery, and wordplay express Duane Reade's "New York Living Made Easy" mission, with brand names and package designs reflecting the store and the store reflecting them.
