Multisorb Technologies launches a new cost-effective solution for extending the shelf life of jerky products, Multisorb JerkyFresh® oxygen absorbing packets.

JerkyFresh packets are designed specifically to keep jerky products with a water activity level less than 0.85 fresh longer than atmospheric, gas flushing, and vacuum packaging alone.

“There was a need in the market for a cost-effective oxygen absorber that could protect jerky from spoilage, off odors, and even mold growth,” said Bob Sabdo - Market Leader North America Food and Beverage Packaging. “JerkyFresh oxygen absorbers offer shelf-life extension beyond what can be achieved with other packaging methods.”

Oxygen is most detrimental to the shelf life of jerky. Oxygen can be trapped in the packaging when it is sealed—even vacuum packaging and gas flushing can leave oxygen behind. What’s more, packaging materials can have microscopic pores that allow oxygen to infiltrate the package, causing oxidative damage to color and flavors of the jerky and allowing for the growth of molds.

JerkyFresh oxygen absorbers irreversibly absorb oxygen inside sealed packaging to less than 0.01% and maintain this level, keeping the jerky fresh and extending its shelf life.

JerkyFresh oxygen absorbers are manufactured using food grade materials in a CGMP compliant facility in the USA, thereby assuring you are using a quality product.
