VIDEO: New Smart Glasses Replace Bifocals

Japan’s TouchFocus has developed prescription lenses capable of changing focus from far to near and back again.

A recent BBC post featured a new development in eyewear that could one day replace bifocals. A Japanese company, Mitsui Chemicals, has developed hi-tech glasses called TouchFocus that transform into bifocals with the push of a button. Liquid crystals in the lenses shift positions creating an area within the lens that can be used to focus on things up close.
