Maalox Plus launched in slider pack in Italy

Sanofi's heartburn treatment becomes latest pharmaceutical product to use this slider packaging with integrated leaflet design.

According to Burgopak, Sanofi has selected the supplier's slider design for its heartburn treatment, Maalox Plus, which was launched into the Italian market in September; the product in the Burgopak slider had previously been launched in the French market.

The new pack is convenient and easy to carry, showing Sanofi's focus in helping people to take care of themselves.

The pharmaceutical pack incorporates Burgopak's patented sliding mechanism, keeping the patient information booklet, the blisters containing the medication, and the branded outer carton conveniently connected at all times. However, Sanofi chose to maintain the same packaging artwork that has been associated with the product for many years.

A Burgopack press release says Maalox Plus is one of four products to be launched by Sanofi in the Burgopak slider design. The first was Dolipranelib for the French over-the-counter market in September 2010. Maalox has also been marketed in Menthe and Citron flavors.

The slider's compact size and engaging opening system is complimented by the products bright yellow outer carton and contrasting orange blister chosen by Sanofi. The combination helps Maalox Plus stand out from its OTC competitors on pharmacy shelves, while also aiming to increase consumer brand recognition. The Burgopak slider design focuses on patient compliance and displays vital information.

Tim Clarke, CEO of Burgopak Healthcare & Technology, says: "We are delighted to continue to work with Sanofi by extending the Maalox brand using the Burgopak slider into the Italian market." The first automated Burgopak slider was launched into the pharmaceutical market, where it supports patient safety and compliance, is robust, portable, and user-friendly.
