Tubes that hold a popular Johnson & Johnson ointment are the focus of a special recycling initiative.

What a great way to eliminate from your medicine cabinet tubes of topical antibiotic ointment that are past their expiration date. I’m talking about the Neosporin / TerraCycle Initiative, which has TerraCycle recycling expired or empty Neosporin tubes that consumers send in. Apparently this is the first time TerraCycle has partnered with an over-the-counter medicine, says worldpressonline.com.

The initiative encourages families to join one of 1,000 “Neosporin Tube Brigades” coast to coast. Not only will this project keep tubes out of the landfill. For each Neosporin tube that a brigade sends to TerraCycle, 2 cents will be contributed to a not-for-profit school or organization selected by the brigade.
