The U.S. Food & Drug Administration says there won't be criminal charges against FDA officials for abuses in review of medical devices, according to the Wall Street Journal.
About a month ago, and more than a year ago, we reported on internal FDA medical device scientists complaining about corruption to Congress and the incoming Obama administration. The scientists alleged the product review system was “corrupted and distorted by current FDA managers," who ignored expert recommendations and science.
The Journal, citing FDA's chief counsel Ralph Tyler, said on March 31 that the Department of Health and Human Services' inspector general had looked into the allegations and plans to not recommend criminal charges.
