Catalent intalls blister-card sealer

Catalent Pharma Solutions installed and qualified a ZED in-line blister-card sealer at its Clinical Supply Services facility in Philadelphia.

The in-line blister sealer provides maximum flexibility and is beneficial for both small- and high-volume clinical trial packaging. The large sealing surface can accommodate both large- or small-format blister cards, and the extended filling area allows up to eight different blister strips to be filled at one time, supporting the filling of complex blister-card designs.

With the capability to automatically place blister cards and blister strips, the Zed in-line blister-card sealer can significantly reduce the run time of carding jobs. The dual sealing stations allow for increased speed throughout the process and assist in cutting the blister package sealing time in half.

“Our investment in the latest technology upgrades in clinical packaging illustrates our commitment to our customer’s needs for new strategies to streamline supply chain management. It is important to Catalent to continue to help supply chain managers speed supplies to clinical trials and products to market,” says Frank Lis, vice president and general manager, Clinical Supply Services, Catalent.
