High-visibility packaging demand on the rise

The Freedonia Group forecasts that sales demand for high-visibility packaging in the pharmaceutical and medical markets will advance 7.9% annually to $1.9 billion by 2010. The organization refers to high-visibility packaging as packaging that allows consumers to see the product through the packaging. These include windowed boxes and bags, carded blister packs, skin packaging, and interlocking containers.

An aging population requiring frequent medications will spur growth in the pharmaceutical sector. So will unit-dose blister packs that facilitate patient compliance with drug regimens and improve inventory control, distribution and recordkeeping for health care providers and institutions.

Freedonia's high-visibility study reports that gains in the medical supplies and devices market will come from product protection and tamper-evident clamshells and blister packs. These packages, says Freedonia, offer clarity to improve product identification, as well as protection from damage and contamination.
