DuPont's Biomax Strong is a petrochemical additive said to improve the toughness and reduce the brittleness of PLA materials. Bio-based and biodegradable, PLA (polylactic acid) is derived from the fermentation of agricultural products. Designed to improve the performance attributes of the polymer, particularly when used in rigid applications such as cast sheets for thermoforming and injection molding. Biomax Strong 100 is for use in packaging where no regulatory food compliance is necessary.
